RANKOVIĆ: HOUSES ENDANGERED BY LANDSLIDES WILL BE SAVED

The chief of Staff for emergency situations in Niš Zarko Rankovic said that the problem of not solving the landslides, which appeared from last year, is in different interpretations of the experts and the `inertia` of the Directorate for construction of Nis. Although for the landslides in Gabrovac in Partizanski kuriri street and in Palilula Municipality nothing has been done for over a year, councilor in charge of emergency Zarko Rankovic says this Staff has not been just sitting doing nothing on this problem. He stated that the letters were sent to all relevant institutions, including the Ministry of Civil Engineering. The main problem is that there were different interpretations of the experts. Some said that it is not a landslide, but the erosion. I'm talking specifically about the landslide in Partizanski Kuriri. The others are saying that everything is caused by one construction object with additionally built balcony. Different opinions, different experts - says Ranković.

In addition, Ranković resentment also the Directorate for City Construction, for, as he says, has defied the command of the Main Staff. The inertia of the Directorate reflected precisely in this disrespect. We, at the end of February, ordered the Directorate to implement public procurement for feasibility study for rehabilitation of landslides on Palilula. It is expected, as he says, to quickly complete all the procedures and to move with the physical works. The old question of the responsibility of those who actually issued the permits for the construction of houses on landslides and now was left open because Ranković says he has not still found guilty ones of the flooding of Novo Selo and Donje Medjurovo, although he claims to have personally requested.
